What are energy centers? Often referred to as chakras—Sanskrit for “wheel” or “disc”—these centers run along the spine, serving as pathways for energy flow within the body. While the chakra system is most commonly associated with Indian traditions, the concept of energy centers is reflected in many cultures around the world.
In Celtic traditions, energy centers are understood through the Three Cauldrons—the Cauldron of Warming, the Cauldron of Motion, and the Cauldron of Wisdom—which represent areas within the body where energy is held and transformed. Similarly, in Chinese medicine, the dantians are key energy reservoirs that support vitality, balance, and connection to life force energy. Across Indigenous practices, energy often flows through the body in ways linked to nature, symbolizing a harmony between inner and outer worlds.
In this series, we’ll explore what each energy center represents, how it connects to both personal and universal energy, and ways to keep these pathways open and balanced. Through mindful movement in yoga, meditation focused on each chakra or energy center, and the soothing resonance of sound healing, we’ll journey into alignment and deeper self-awareness.
Each month, we’ll focus on a specific energy center, exploring its unique wisdom through a lens that honors its cross-cultural roots. We’ll begin with the Root Chakra—the foundation of the energy system, where we cultivate safety, stability, and connection to the earth beneath us.
To support your continued practice at home, you’ll receive handouts after each session, providing reflections, exercises, and tools to integrate what you’ve learned into your daily life. These resources will empower you to deepen your connection to each energy center and maintain alignment between sessions.
Come join us to honor these universal energy pathways and integrate their lessons into your daily life. Together, we’ll ground ourselves in the wisdom and reverence of these practices, bridging ancient traditions and modern understanding.
